Slippery flooring, unreachable shower head, inadequate storage, navigating over a high tub ledge
High traction floor tile, walk-in shower, handheld showerhead with optimal mount location, grab bars for stability, shower storage now reachable from a sitting position
Inaccessible storage space - you can see the client reverted to using all her counter space and toilet lid for her items, upper wall cabinet was too dificult to reach or utilize. The toilet was quite low, requiring a seat riser.
We installed a recessed medicine cabinet for easy-to-access storage and added a floating shelf. A comfort height toilet with removable grab bars is easy to clean and comfortable to use.
The towel rods and hooks were difficult to reach. The lower cabinets were also largey inaccessible, requiring the client to lower herself to the floor in order to reach any items in the back.
Instead of replacing the vanity, we installed pull-out drawers so the client could access all her items without lowering herself onto the floor. Not pictured here, but we lowered the placement of the hand towel rod and all hooks.
Narrow Toilet Room Entry, Low Toilet
Increased doorway to 36" cased opening, installed an easy-to-clean skirted comfort height toilet, added an angled grab bar to assist with rising and lowering
Slick tile flooring throughout the bathroom and shower pan. The rain shower head could not reach the bench, nor was it powerful enough to wash away the soap on the shower floor.
We used a special treatment on the existing tile in the shower pan and entire bathroom to increase traction. Grab bars were installed for stability. We also swapped out the rain shower head for a significantly more powerful, adjustable shower head.
